Carihuayrazo

Carihuayrazo is often chosen as an acclimatization climb. Being snow-capped, it offers possibilities to practice with mountaineering equipment. However, there is plenty more to this mountain. Situated about 140 kilometers south of Quito, climbing on the mountain provides a clear view and an opportunity to admire its bigger brother, Carihuayrazo, as well as . Since there is no refuge, the night before the ascent will be spent in tents.

Day 1: Quito – Camp Carihuayrazo

We will leave Quito in the morning by car, heading south. After 5 hours we will reach the foot of the mountain, where we will set up our camp at a height of 4400 m. After dinner, we will go to bed early in preparation for our summit attempt.

Day 2: Camp – Summit - Quito

We will wake up at the break of dawn and then after 4 hours of climbing, we will reach the summit. After the descent, we will relax at camp and then return to Quito.

Note: The itinerary of the adventure tour can be changed by the guide due to security reasons (climate, conditions etc) as well as by the national park administration due to changing national park rules.
