The lodge was built in 2005, according to national and international standards of comfort and security, respecting the natural environment of the area in order to provide and share the goals of promoting environmentally and socially responsible tourism practices. Our hacienda-style lodge is surrounded by a unique landscape that offers clean, comfortable rooms decorated with local arts. Itinerary
Day 1: In the morning we pick you up from your hotel and head south from Quito on the Pan-American highway to start our adventure in this magnificent Andean setting. This way is named “the avenue of the volcanoes” by the famous explorer Alexander von Humboldt because from Quito until Riobamba you always have volcanoes on both sides of the road: the Pasochoa, Corazón, Illinizas, Cotopaxi, Rumiñahui, etc. In Latacunga you leave the Pan-American highway to the west driving into the region of Zumbahua, considerably one of the most visually astonishing places in Ecuador. In Zumbahua a small picturesque village live only 60 families in the vicinity. A short 10 km drive north we encounter the brilliant turquoise waters of the volcano lake at Quilotoa. This lake is one of the most beautiful volcano lakes in the Ecuadorian Andes. From the crater and on a clear day you can see the different snow topped volcanoes. A hike will lead you through this fascinating landscape and provide you with many impressions of this beautiful region. Dinner and accommodation at the Quilotoa Crater Lodge. -/L/D

Day 2: After breakfast we continue the travel through the western Andes towards Chugchilan we continue the circuit of this region passing little Andean villages Chugchilan, Sigchos and Toacaso. Once again if weather permits you will have the chance to admire some of Ecuadors most spectacular volcanos including : Illinizas, Cotopaxi and Chimborazo. Standing solidly at 6310m Chimborazo is the highest mountain in the Ecuadorian Andes and due to its position on the curvature of the planet, it is also the closest point to the sun on Earth. The journey leads you through changing landscapes through valley with tropical cloud forest and through the width of the Andean Paramo ( highland ) before you finally return back on the Pan-American highway. Driving north on the highway you return back to Quito in the late afternoon. B/L/-
