Day 1 Monday: Quito – Cotopaxi National Park
In the morning you will go on to the Cotopaxi National Park towards the south on the Pan-American Highway through the famous avenue of the Quito – Cotopaxi National Parkvolcanoes until the entrance of the National Park where you will visit the little museum. On your way through the national park you will visit the lagoon Limpio Pungo as well as the Inca ruins ‘El Salitre’ located in the highlands of the park and have lunch at the Tambopaxi mountain refuge with great views of Cotopaxi volcano. In the afternoon the journey goes over the Pan-American highway to the 400 year old Hacienda La Cienega, which is surrounded with age-old trees and has a beautiful flower garden. In this nostalgic atmosphere you will eat dinner and stay the night. -/L/D

Day 2 Tuesday: Baños – waterfall Avenue
In the morning you will drive to the charming town of Baños at the foot of Baños – waterfall AvenueVulcan Tungurahua, which is still active and the source of the hot springs for which Baños is famous. Visit the unique sugar market, go to the hot springs for some relaxation in the warm waters or just enjoy the laid back friendly atmosphere in the plazas and many local art and craft shops that line the bustling streets.
You continue driving on to the east through the waterfalls Avenue, which follows the Rio Pastaza on its way through the valley of the same name.In the village Rio Verde besides the river of the same name you will stop in order to visit the well-known waterfall El Pailon del Diablo. Afterwards you return to Baños where you will spend the night in the Hotel Sangay. B/L/-

Day 3 Wednesday: Chimborazo – Riobamba
In the morning you leave Baños and drive via Ambato up towards the huge Volcano Chimborazo ( 6310m ). Through a picturesque landscape the road Chimborazo – Riobambawinds itself up, passing fields, valleys and the volcano Carihuayrazo, to the wide high plain at the slopes of Chimborazo. Every now and then you see lamas, which are still common useful animals in this region. With a little bit of luck you also might see some Alpacas and even Vicuñas, the latter ones live in a wide reserve near the Chimborazo. You continue your journey crossing the Chimborazo high plain and then descend to Riobamba to the Hosteria Abraspungo where we lodge tonight. Dinner and accommodation at the hosteria. B/L/D

Day 4 Thursday: Riobamba – Guamote – Ingaprica – Cuenca
In the morning you will drive to the small mountain city Guamote. Every Thursday takes place an authentic Indian market. The traditional clothed Riobamba – Guamote – Ingaprica – Cuenca farmers come with their lamas and mules packed with vegetables, mais and potatoes to Guamote from the surrounding villages. On the way back the animals carry a lot of household items. After the visit of this market you will continue your way to Cuenca.On the way you will stop at the famous ‘Ingapirca’ (Quechua for “wall rocks of the Inca”) the most important and well preserved Inca ruins in Ecuador where you can wander around the beautiful site and visit the museum. The last stage to Cuenca takes 2 hours. Overnight accommodation at the Hotel El Dorado. B/L/D

Day 5 Friday: Cuenca City tour - Quito
Cuenca City tour - QuitoThis morning you will explore the colonial part of the city where you will find churches, many art and craft shops and a flower market. All this is located amongst beautiful old houses in an area that was declared a World Heritage Site by the UNESCO in 1999. Cuenca is considered as the cultural metropolis and the arts and crafts centre of Ecuador. The city itself and the surrounding countryside is a fantastic place to buy ceramics, embroidery, leather goods and baskets. At midday you will eat in a typical restaurant in Cuenca. Afterwards you will be taken to the airport from where you fly back to Quito. End of services. B/L/-
